John Downey & Son were the First butchers in Ireland to win two gold awards, two Silver awards and one bronze in the prestigious Great Taste Food Awards at London’s Olympia in 2003 and 2004 and a gold medal in 2003 for our spiced beef sponsored by Bord Bia now sold all year round and country wide.
At the IFEX food show at the RDS in 2005 we were highly commended for the best Irish meat product of the IFEX 19 food awards for “Downeys Original” Spiced Beef presented by Mary Coughlan TD Minister for Agriculture and Food, Patron of the awards
At the Associated Craft Butchers of Ireland awards sponsored by an Bord Bia we won silver medal for Organic Venison and a Gold medal for Wild Boar and many more awards since 1990, for pudding, sausages, and burgers sponsored by the Irish Masters Butchers Federation at the RDS. Also awards by the Irish livestock and meat board, Now Bord Bia.
